you say that hardly no one knows about this gun but
whenever i go down to my shooting range (in switzerland) there are always a minimum of 5 of these rifles
over here it is an extremely common rifle because its dirt cheap (around 200chf here)
i america it might be differant but i would just like to corect that it is not that rare a weapon

Hey, thats not an 11 thats an 96/11 !
You see it because the Top of the Buttstock is flat, the 11 are rounded. This was made earlier (between 1896 to 1911) and has been originally remanufactured for the newer 7.5*55 cartrige.
Its one of the first rifles shooting the Gp11 (7.5*55) round and they are really rare .
Read here, also compare the buttstocks of the 96/11 to the 11

How can you tell what kind of Swiss rifle you have? I know the weapon I have looks like yours and has an extremely long barrel ? The serial numbers date it to 1911. Can you help me determine what I actually have.
By the way go to Samco global arms websit and you can buy the 7.5 x 55 in bulk
I just bought one....i was told its a 96-11 Schmidt Rubin....

I never understood why, while u're up there with such complicated mechanism, u just won't add a piston and make it semiauto. It has the cons of being manually operated and very complicated! Actually, in 1911 politics and not science dictated that the infrantry man had to manually cycle his rifle for "rational" ammo use. However...

In the middle I talk about picking up a K-11, I was talking about the flood of K-31's that are out there. They are really nice rifles...
