In this second part of our "Suppressed .308 Rifle for Under $1K" Project we test it at 200 Yards. The purpose was to have a "Shootable, out of the box" .308 Rifle package for $1K or less including Heavy Barrel, Scope, Bipod, Sound Suppressor, and Synthetic Stock. (No, price doesn't include transfer tax) In Part 1 we function tested it at 100 yards in a snow storm. Part 1 can be seen here: http://youtu.be/beB9Mhv4mJc After our testing is concluded we will have a full spec sheet and contact information where you can also purchase the same package.

Good eye. With that "throw" it was around 3MOA. With that said, it was a full value wind, changing directions from 6 to 9 to 3, on a tippy portable bench in sub freezing weather with numb fingers and ball ammo. I believe the rifle will perform much better than that, especially with good ammo and warm hands, not attached to a shivering body. :-) But, we don't guess or assume, we test. We test in all climates and conditions, just like real life. Don't write the system off yet - Jeff :-)

Roger that David. We train and test in all conditions. Not all "real world" performance is needed when it is sunny, calm and warm. - Jeff :-)

Does the Sub 1000$ price tag include the tax stamp on the supressor?

Yes, a supressor, which has baffles inside it, like a muzzle brake, which absorbs both the recoil and the flash. The can over the baffles is where the sound suppression comes from.

It won't seem so if you're comparing it to what you see/hear in the movies.

at s.t.p.(standard temp & pressure) at sea lvl sonic speed is about 1100 feet per second. most .308 muzzle velocities are much higher than this. 2700 fps is a common speed for a 20" barrell with a full load in about 170- 180 grain. the bullet with heavier grain and less powder loading can travel much slower and not make the sonic crack.

Hey, where did you get your Marlin x7vh from? The ones with threaded barrels seem to be a little uncommon.

It's an amazing looking setup, and great video. I definitely want to add this to our collection (for the right price)!

Its a suppressor not a silencer... just drops volume and spikes in the sounds thus removing direction so it is harder to tell where the shot came from. You will still hear it.

It's actually VERY quiet. Unfortunately the audio doesn't translate very well. You will notice no one is using hearing protection and it is very comfortable. Next test will be a suppressed vs unsuppressed and Subsonic ammo vs Supersonic ammo, I think, to help people see the difference.
