"Taran and the She-Devil" was Lex Barker's fifth, and final, film as Tarzan. It was directed by Kurt Neumann in 1953 and also starred Joyce MacKenzie as Jane, Monique Van Vooren as Lyra (the "she-devil"), and Raymond Burr as her vicious accomplice, Vargo. This segment is an excerpt from the documentary, "The Many Faces of Tarzan" (1996).

  • tim conway is in this thing? the guy from mchale's navy right?

  • No, this actor is Tom Conway.

  • this is a good movie

  • I think this means that you like this movie. So do I. However, it is not a "good movie" in the technical sense that it has a good script, good acting and good production values.

The Leonard Maltin Movie Guide gives it one-and-a-half stars (out of four) and says it is "boring hokum". Most other reviewers have similar opinions about it.

  • Did you ever think that maybe Environmentalists get their support from rich guys who just don't want other guys to get rich/spoil their rich guy safaris?

  • On the main page of my "Tarzan in Terror Orstralis" web site I have a quote:

"This guy was saving the rainforest long before it was fashionable."

In other words, Tarzan has been influencing audiences with environmental ideas for most of the last century, without them even being aware of it.

  • It is too bad that youtube can't have at least one day maybe like a holiday for the Tarzan series, the films both this one and the others with Scott and Weissmuller to play for the day. Maybe on the anniversary of the Tarzan books or one of the Tarzan actors's anniversary of death or their birthdays.

  • I dont care, this was one of my favourite Tarzan films too, both lead actors were brilliant and I loved this storyline, i will always remember it and I guess thats what important

  • This has always been one of my favourite Tarzan films - it was not boring at all and I really enjoyed Lex Barker and Joyce Mackenzie in these roles

  • Do you ever that people who try to pick apart other's attempts to impove things do that mostly to white-wash that they themselves aren't doing a damn thing?
