Hidayat Inayat Khan

I met Hidayat Inayat Khan when he was Vancouver in connection with "The Mysticism of Sound" conference, a celebation of his spiritual teachings and music.
Hidayat Inayat Khan is the head of the International Sufi Movement and Pir-o-Murshid (spiritual leader)of its Inner School. He divides his time between Holland and the family home in Suresnes, but travels extensively, giving classes and lectures on Sufism.

The Sufi lineage of Hazrat Inayat Khan is historically very closely associated with Music.

If, however, you actually delve into the lineage's teaching about Music in any detail . . . you find that there's nothing of specific substance there.

Only vague (even if lofty . . .) literary generalizations about how Music works and what its essential significance might be.

It's very disappointing . . .
