In this segment, Rep. Marshall takes the Obama party line--and uses textbook propaganda techniques--to attempt to convince the audience that the nation's single biggest economic threat is health care. He doesn't point the finger at government involvement in health care, nor does he discuss the government's current policy of monetizing our massive debt.
Since Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic leadership have called on their faithful to pass health care now, it has been made out to be the most dire catastrophe the nation has ever faced. Funny, a few months ago, the banking crisis was the biggest problem we'd faced.
Things become dicey when Marshall prophesizes, "If we just leave things like they are... if we don't change anything... in a couple of decades, the federal government's broke." A few boisterous members of the assembly correctly inform the congressman that the nation is broke now. How can Marshall predict that we WILL be broke when we owe trillions in debt to the Chinese, Saudis, and others? Our current solvency, if one can call it that, is an illusion, at best. Marshall begins to ramble and stumble when he tries to explain our debt.
Like a caring parent, Marshall asks the crowd to remain quiet while he continues to spin the figures.
