-Spoiler-
The vaults were produced by the enclave to perform experiments. In fallout1 the player leaves the vault in the video with a few other dwellers and starts a tribe.
In fallout2 the enclave decided to develop a virus to wipe out the mutant population (anyone who lives in the wasteland).
They decided to test the virus on the population of the vault and its tribe because one set had been exposed while the others were unaffected in the vault. The video shows them being kidnapped

why did the Enclave want everything inside the vault i thought that they had bases, weapons and stuff like that
-
It was the Enclave that killed them, the Enclave is an evil group, they were gaining access to the vault so they could take everything in it.
In a quest in Fallout 3, your friend Anata from inside the vault sends out a radio signal for your help because she wants to leave the vault but her father won't let her. She helps you get back in. You find out later the Enclave were trying to get in to do exactly what they did on this intro. You have to decide who to assist, her or her father.

I`ve played em all. From 1981 to present day. From Colossal Cave Adventure (black screen, white text) to a lvl 70 Hunter on WoW.... nothing.. NOTHING... comes close to FO2. Best Intro, Best Outro, best game. Bar none!
