From KRON San Francisco, a portion of a sales presentation showing the people behind Newscenter 4. Take a look at the paper prompter near the top of the clip.

  • KRON - from Peabodys and Emmys to Darya doing the swim. How far the mighty have fallen. NBC, you must acquire KRON for the greater good of broadcast journalism in Northen California. Even if you make the newscasts clones of KNBC they will be a million times better than these pieces of **** I just saw on here. When I was a teenager in East Oakland I knew KRON was the best in terms of hard, serious news.

    NBC, buy KRON and make it a crown jewel again.

  • If only they hadn't surrendered the peacock...

  • KRON didn't "surrender the peacock," it was yanked out from under them. Actually, NBC *did* try to buy KRON, but Young was sooo obstinate about their asking price ($750m), NBC pulled KRON's affiliation when KNTV *offered* to become an affiliate. When NBC had the op to buy KNTV, they made another last-ditch to buy KRON. When Young again wouldn't budge, NBC scooped up KNTV for $250m, *half a billion* less than Young demanded for KRON.

  • Judging from his reputation for not staying around a particular station very long (prior to ending his career in Honolulu), how much longer was it before Paul Udell got the U-Haul packed up?

  • No, but it looks just like him. That's actually Paul Udell and Roz Abrams.

  • I believe that the music is a rendition of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No.1.

  • What's up with the applause at the end of the video?

  • That director "Fast" Fred Bushardt!

  • The "3 hours and 15 minutes of daily news" cited in Bob Jimenez's narration likely consisted of:

    (1) NewsCenter 4 Daybreak - five minutes each at 6:45, 7:25 and 8:25 a.m.;

    (2) NewsCenter 4 Midday - 11:30 a.m. to noon;

    (3) NewsCenter 4 Live at 5 - 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.;

    (4) NewsCenter 4 - 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; and

    (5) NewsCenter 4 Update - 11:00 p.m to 11:30 p.m.

    These add up to 2 hours, 45 minutes. I'm 30 minutes short. Which program did I miss? Perhaps "T.G.I.Four" or "Bay City Limits"?

  • NBC can own and operate KRON as their main station out of 1001 Van Ness and use KNTV as Telemundo out of San Jose, and sell off the existing Telemundo station.
