They tried way too hard to make this movie look cool. It was too flashy and colorful, and that made it hard to take seriously. It looked very fake. It burned my eyes, it was so bad.

I couldn't agree with you more, but i think that if they were going to make the movie right...don't do it in real time. Either give it back the original look the cartoon had, for the film, or use computer animation, but doing what they did with this film i think just ruined it!

And I'm a huge speed racer fan! :S

I totally loved the 1st Race. Speed haunted by the ghost of his older brother Rex. Awesome the way all the early scenes were tied to that 1st race,the most emotional race of the movie in my opinion.Yeah,the movie was mostly geared to kids from maybe 6-13,but the first 40 min. or so(mostly everything surrounding the 1st race),worked perfectly for adults.If that race didnt get you choked up,then its pretty much guranteed that you wasted your money & that this movie is not your cup of tea.

Speed did look Japanese in the cartoon, but Shia isn't Japanese either. Emile Hirsch is perfect at it.
