Samso, a Danish island in the North Sea, has 4,300 inhabitants. 100% of the island's electricity comes from wind power and 75% of its heat is from solar power and biomass energy. Al Jazeera's correspondent Barbara Serra reports from a community that is using innovative ways to keep its energy costs down.

  • well alot of them are owned cooperatively. The farmer took out 1 million dollar loan lets start there (could be more i don't know), they power 600 households, so each household could pay $1667.67. i know people who spend more on T.V.'s

  • a lot of people are afraid to invest in clean energy because of the initial starting price. Although there should not be a price tag on investing in the public health and environment, this video will help prove to people that they will eventually get their money back.
