We think the Powercal is fantastic but admit it's not a real powermeter. Ideal for the not too serious rider but not suitable for the serious athlete the Powercal allows for a more generalized measurement of power on longer efforts but does not accommodate the really short sharp effort some elite athletes might have in their programs.

PowerCal displays power on any existing ANT+ compatible power computer display or watch like the Garmin 500 or 800. Initially Cyclops intended for this device to be calibrated to the individual but after extensive testing it has been determined that the individual calibration does not offer much more to the algorithms accuracy and is not neccary. So simply pair the powercal with your cycle computer and start riding with power.

Though it's not as precise as our PowerTap, it's a great tool, nicely encapsulated within a heart rate monitor strap, which you can own for about $30 more than a normal HR strap. Not to mention, PowerCal can also be used for running or other activities, allowing you to use the same units of measure across a variety of disciplines or cross-training activities.
