what kind of strings (make, model) are you using? are they old and worn out?
i have a 2009 american std p-bass with fender 9120 nylon tapewound strings. the tone is nice but not as fat as yours.
post some more stuff!!

i play the d´addario EXL-165 nickel plated strings. mine are worn out and i still use them.
