(acoustic guitar: Nigel Kerr, vox: Rachael Brady - Livespark@The Brisbane Powerhouse July 5 2009.)
This song is an ode, in part to my home in the beautiful Blue Mountains and it's also about the benefits (personally speaking) i receive when i live a little more slowly, mindfully and attentively.
the world is getting louder so i threw the tv out
i said goodbye to all those plastic girls with tans the whole year round
i want a real life.
so i am growing basil on my window sill
the leaves are turning red outside
and i'm bracing for the chill
because life here is slowing down.
slow me down - watch the circle come around
i was made in the 70s so at heart i'm just a peace-nik poet
a child of the dream
i've got crystals in my pocket
and i wanna know your sign
i believe in things that i can't see but they're bigger and slower
and they move in me.
so slow me down - watch the circle come around
because i'm tired of the traffic in my head and on the street
i'm tired of reality tv shows that don't mean a thing
and i'm tired of your scene
just give me trees
and give me echo point and govett's leap or the view from
mt york obelisk into the hartley valley
give me real beauty
you see all i want is a life that's real,
made up of small details we live too fast to feel
like these seeds sprouting from the ground
i long to live in time with the planet
but we're moving too fast for it
slow me down - watch the fruit fall to the ground when the leaves are turnin' brown
watch the circle come around
watch the circle come around
slow me down.
