yea you got me there i was just watching a tv show about both disney ships and it compared them both to classic ocean liners. there were many similarities. but your rite most ships get their fair share of transatlantic crossings in their lifetime
True, but alot of other cruise ships have portholes, too. The real thing that sets a liner apart from a cruise ship is the actual engineering. Cruise ships have thiner hulls, are usually wider, not as powerful, etc.
I posted my origional comment a while ago, I have to say I sound like an idiot in it.
daipp,
Most cruise ships cross the Atlantic a good amount of times during their service careers to reposition to the Med or Caribbean.
actualy there are similarities between the disney ships and ocean liners of the golden age. the disney ships brought back the traditional rounded porthole among many other things. hope i cleared things up =)
In terms of design Disney did and continues to do it right. They are not afraid to reach into the company coffers to pull off an original product. Carnival, with equally deep pockets continues to flood the market with prostituted designs that have flooded the market with basically the same thing. Disney is the only line where I am compelled to pay to cruise with them. Because they provide an original experience.
@willman1010 YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!! Disney is like the best cruise line EVER!

Ships tonnage is not the weight of the ship but the volume inside the ship.
