Dr. Bart Lardner shares results from a 2-year study conducted at Termuende Research Ranch. The study evaluated wheat dried distillers grain (DDGS) as a supplement for beef cows grazing barley straw-chaff piles in a fall/winter field setting. Research was collected in Fall/Winter 2007/08 and 2008/09. Results of the study suggest wheat DDGS can be used effectively as a supplement in extensive wintering systems to meet nutrient requirements without negative effects on cow performance.
