O wow I never thought about that!. That is a neat idea, although where I live my beans tend to live long after the Corn is harvested (not to mention stupid squirrels that like to chop corn down hehe)

Hello friend, one suggestion for you.
The taller pole beans get the more they produce. I put 8 foot stakes in the ground and let them grow up those and you will have tons and tons of beans that way, and take up alot less room.

@bigritchie I planted Corn and beans in rows next to each other this year in an experiment to have the beans climb the corn stalks, like the Native Americans used to do. If my corn doesn't start making some dramatic steps soon, I will have to stake and I will take your advice. Thanks for watching!

where do you get your seeds? i get mine from the seed savers exchange.

I get mine from them as well. I really like their varieties and I have been very pleased with the results. Their bean varieties have also done well. I have been using the beans that I have grown for the last year as seed stock for the subsequent plantings. Coming up with adapted seeds has been my main goal besides some veg to eat. By continually picking your finest fruit for your seed stock, you insure that the next season will be better than the last and that it is adapted to your soil type.

The heirloom tomatoes that will be growing for 2010 are: Brandywine red and yellow, Beam's yellow pear, Trophy, and Italian Roma!

Thanks for your kind words! I will be replanting my biggest Trophy variety for this year as well as Roma. As usual, I am expanding the size of the garden. It happens every year...
