  • Also what did she die from? I heard nematod infection, am I correct? I'm a student in biology and infections and diseases interest me.

Oh sorry you're new to Ts. The vagans ended up being a mature male (in the hobby we code them as MM). As you'll learn about Ts, mature males are only used for breeding since their lifespans are very short (5-6 fold different from females).

What I meant that he got "munched", he was loaned off to Tarantula Canada, one of Canada's best dealers for Ts for breeding and the female got him.

The only T that suffered from nematode infection was an adult female A.versicolor.

  • Hello, I'm new in the T world and I enjoy your videos, they're very educationnal. I was wondering, when you changed the enclosure for you B. vagans did you change the substrate and cleaned out the enclosure because of the infection of you other T? I don't have experience with T infections or diseases but personnaly I would have change and disenfected everything before the transfer. I have a few exotic pets and I know that when I have a new one, they are quarantined and old cages are disenfected.

  • @PF718

If I can remember what I did that day... Normally I do change everything , but in this enclosure I didn't because the substrate was freshly changed no more than a week before taking the video, so no sense of chucking over fresh substrate...as you saw, I just removed the webbing and put the other T in.

In general Ts are very clean animals unless they poop like the arboreals. Now, the C.fasciatum is still alive and well (in a 6L shoebox), vagans ended up being a MM and got muched

  • Hey can u give me some tips when a spider is about to molt since my friend just got a new born

  • see my video on how to care for a pre molt and post.

Basic signs: webbing a lot, not eating, fading colors, dark bald spot on abdomen. keep it well hydrated and resume feeding it 4-5 days after it molts

  • @Jon3800 That's O.K. I was just wondering about the nematode infection, if it can be transfered to your new T but since the substrate was cleaned it's o.k. then. I live in Lanaudière 1 hour from Montreal and I just bought 2 weeks ago a Brachypelma bohemei (forgot the spelling) from Tarantula Canada and I intend on getting one or 2 of her new arrivals. Their are very passionate about their Ts and I learned alot in just 1 hour or 2. Thanks!

  • @PF718 Thanks!

  • MAN I LOVE YOUR VIDS!!! i did not know u could use the same substrate. and wow she was a pain!

  • Really funny vid Jon iam getting my vagins 6cm tomorrow :)

  • Got to Rehouse my OBT and L.Para today, thats going to be fun lol.

  • When I relocate my spiders I always prepare small box in case spiders tries to escape. I can cover the runner with it to caputre it. Fasciatum is very likely to do so. This spider's behaviour is quite bizzare. Its usually deep underground but when you try to move it it tries to escape. IMO in most cases its worse than pokies.
