The Saint John Sea Dogs are entering historic territory.
Zack Phillips scored a hat trick as Saint John rolled the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 8-2 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Friday night.
Saint John has now won 13 in a row, extending a franchise record. The Sea Dogs' streak is also the 13th-longest in league history, moving the team into top spot in the overall standings.
Saint John's run comes a season after the QMJHL saw several lengthy winning streaks. Drummondville won 18 in a row, Rimouski captured 17 straight and Shawinigan had a 15-game run.
Michael Kirkpatrick is on a roll himself, recording a point in Saint John's last 11 games. The 19-year-old centre has accumulated three goals and 13 assists in that time.
At Saint John, N.B., defender Nathan Beaulieu had five assists in the Sea Dogs victory.
Jonathan Huberdeau had a goal and two assists for Saint John (21-4-1), while Kevin Gagne, Nicholas Petersen, Mike Hoffman and Stanislav Galiev all had singles.
Vincent Couture and Eric Faille scored for Acadie-Bathurst (8-14-3).
