if u have your gmail in your mail app on the mac, then technically spotlight does it all...and the dashboard kind of already has all those gadgets...along with our smartphones...

Exactly what I was thinking, Spotlight not only does the exact same thing (excluding the gmail feature) it does it better... and I'm not worried about Spotlight possibly collecting my computer's information for the sake of data review and ad customization.
