Students from across the UK are currently experiencing the cut and thrust of politics first hand, by taking part in Mock Councils of the European Union.
Last week, 28 schools across the island of Ireland got their chance gain an insight into parliamentary proceedings at the sixth Mock Council of the European Union in the Northern Ireland Assembly at Stormont.
Organised by the British Council and the European Commission Office in Northern Ireland, this Mock Council set out to recreate the environment of a real Council of the European Union meeting. Students from across England and Wales have also taken part in London and Cardiff Mock Councils.
Each of the participating schools represented an EU country with teams of three students taking on the roles of government ministers.
Students debated and voted on topical issues such as the euro and climate change.
