This video is dedicated to every bass player out there, who play a song (or even a whole gig) by thinking fret numbers.

I decided to make some videos about playing somewhat difficult songs on bass. My point was to show how would I play the song live. My other goal is to show certain people examples of techniques and ways of using the instrument that I do, therefore none of the songs are played perfectly (some missing notes and/or lack in the rythmic patterns for a very short time). So it doesn't mean it has to be played like this, and it doesn't mean that the original band played/plays it like I do. But it's close :)
Comments/questions are welcome.

Notes on Testify: tuned to D A D G, distorted with some fuzz. No frets this time, I just got my Cort B4 fretless, and I wanted to make a video. Steve DiGiorgio made a noticeable influence on me, when time came to choose the next instrument :)

Nothing fancy, except for the quick ghostnotes in some verses. Enjoy.

  • I still don't get what advantage you get playing fretless over fretted. Explain?

  • @6midlan Different sound, there's different feel to it, it's a different instrument overall.

  • Very good tone blend, nice intonation, and awesome song choice. I like it!

  • @Marlowann thanks a lot :)

  • @6midlan It has a different tone. It can be close enough to a fretted bass not to notice (if the player is really damn tight - like here :P), but then the whole fretless tone (known often as mwah) can be emphasised. Since there are no absolute semitone divisions you have all the microtones in between. It makes for some really awesome sliding, and also can play some really exotic music. Here is a good vid showing the sound of a fretless: /watch?v=FvWB-Z4J0mg
