This family melodrama was such a hit in those times and was remade in many languages at the same time and has the credit of only one cinema remade in many languages. Even the recent hindi movie Baghban was remake using the same story but they just changed the schoolmaster to bank employee. Atleast for the courtesy they could have given the credits to the original story writer.

Again this movie was remade as Ee Bandhana starring Vishnu and Jayaprada....Konkana sutti mailaarakke banda haage...... But still, all songs in this movie are so soothing and meaningful...we never forget those lyrics. Hardly we remember lyrics from Baghban or Ee bandhana which were just released 3-4 years back. Hats off to Kanagal Prabhakar Shastry.
