The poem was written in late 2006 as a way of honoring the approach that Malcolm X used when addressing the colonized state of mind that his people were in. Borrowing from his words and passion to address the people of Mexican/Central American/Native American descent, to help inspire our people to wake up and take action in the building of a liberated future for all of our people of the Western Hemisphere. Since reading his autobiography, the sense of justice and the urgency of liberation have never felt so raw and alarming in the mind and heart! Liberate yourself. Lets lose fear and gain direction and courage! We can do this!

  • That wasn't a poem, it was just you yelling.

  • uh! have you heard of slam poetry????

my bad, i am supposed to sound like Shakespeare and maybe add an english accent to please your wonderful white ears. Please. get a hint. wait, as a matter of fact, i love the fact that you get so bothered with our message that you feel compelled to always make a comment of what i do. that lets me know that we are doing the right thing, not the white thing. thanks. :)

  • wow thAT WAS AMAZN SO WHAT DO WE CALL OURSELFES NOE DO WE SAY NDEGNOUSE OF WHAT PLZ RESPOND

  • Indigenous is fine. You can call yourself Nican Tlaca, Indigenous, or Huichol, Purhepecha, Maya, whatever you feel comfortable with. It is up to you. If you are trying to represent yourself and your people, and do not want to use colonizing terms, just stay away from hispanic, latino, raza, mestizo: those are all terms that completely deny us our Indigenous (Nican Tlaca) heritage and identity.

    Its up to you.

  • Your words and those of Malcolm X ring louder today than ever before. Thank you for putting something down that's real during a time when so many follow these marketed slogans for change. True change comes when we first start to free our minds. How do we know where we want to go if we never can be honest about where we've been.

  • Powerful words! Malcolm would be proud.

  • I'm Black and this gets a HUGE thumbs up from me! I am so damn sick of people of color and their white worship. I'm so sick of how many of us will take these people's side against our own. They LOVE the very damn people that HATE them. I get sick when I see Black women with blue-contacts and blonde weaves. They desire to mate with them to get fair-skinned ,"good haired" children. They have adopted their evil ways and sexual perversions and destroyed our families. This has gotta STOP!

  • Inspiring , great and true.!! Well sayd and presented.! All that needed to be says was , sayd clearly and truetfully.!! Tiahui

  • @MizzLoveable03 Go farther back in history and they even did it to themselves! But your right!

  • nican tlaca!

  • god bless you for this post. great job

  • We must honor our ancestors. I am black ( not that it matters)

  • This video is good. So many ppl don't care where they come from and what their history is. Ppl care about homes and cars and money. As important as it is to expose the many ways that the oil spill of colonialism has inspired racism has infected our existence and our psyche we must also develop solutions. We must think forward and be aware of what lies behind so that we do not go that way again. We the people must become "aware" of these things and their relevance in our lives.
