Further to my last comment, The town is growing at a rate of knotts and the town centre cannot cope, leading to ridiculous traffic jams etc. To add to the problem, every other shop in the town centre is now a pub (great for a night out with the same old crowd week in week out with a bloody nose outside and later stabbed by an eastern european) It's about time they built a massive shopping centre on the outskirts somewhere. At the end of the day, all my close family and friends live there so..

I was born and bred in Northampton for 25 years (1978-2003) from the age of 19 I realised It is one of the most inbred and clicky places I have ever known and I subsiquently left. I think most of Northampton's problems arrived with the London overspill after WW2. It's like the wild west! However Northampton"shire" is absolutely beautifull. The English heritage countryside of Northamptonshire is truly first class and many of the rich and famous reside there.

Why all the negativity about Northampton. Yeah, every English town is virtually the same as all the others - bit of nice scenery, some ugly grey buildings, interesting local history, plenty of salt-of-the-earth lovely people, and a smattering of underclass scum. I come from Middlesbrough and our town gets a bad rap too, but it's the same as anywhere else that isn't a big city or otherwise drowning in money... it's the REAL England!
