@thernlund A new P229 is great if you can afford it. If not, try to find one used. There's plenty on the market and for the money used, they're a fantastic pistol. I got a great deal on mine and cannot believe how softly it shoots with full power defense rounds. Just a great pistol.

I own a Sig P229 SCT in 9mm - just as much fun to shoot, and the recoil IS soft allowing much faster followup shots.
Harm seems like a nice guy - he ought to lose some weight. I don't care how nice your pistol is, if you aren't in good shape you're going to be shaking too hard from exhaustion to hold your sights on target...

The 229 has one advantage, it's DA/SA action. No safety, just a decocker. Nothing but a 10lb DA pull between my finger and brain, then when I want to target shoot you have the SA pull for accuracy.

have you shot the Glock 23? Im deciding between the glock 23 and the sig p229. In a perfect world i would get both, but for now im getting one.

I own a Glock 23. It's a good shooter. I find the P229 marginally more comfortable though.
Honestly, for the money, the Glock is probably a better value, but only barely. You might just want to flip a coin really. ;-)
