Across the mountains, away from the Rock Shop, we got an early start, and ride long hours down into the valley of Carrizozo. A dusty windy, junction town that has mosty dried up. Locals say infighting has contributed, as well as the loss of passenger service by the train, which is now just cargo. All towns have to re-invent themselves and Carrizozo has to do that yet. Lets hope they succeed.
