Kelly O'Brien, fiancée of Congressional staffer Gabe Zimmerman, who was killed in the mass shooting that targeted Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson, Arizona this year, was in Washington, DC on April 12 to endorse HR308, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy's bill to ban high-capacity ammunition magazines. This is a portion of the press conference in which the two women -- both nurses who lost their partners in a mass shooting and then went to Washington as activists -- argue for the passage of commonsense measures to reduce injuries and save lives. They are joined here by Senator Frank Lautenberg, who is carrying the legislation in the Senate; President Paul Helmke of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, and (off-camera) Ross Zimmerman, Gabe's father.
