Let's get things straight. The music from Ommadawn is beyond the reach of any human being. God himself created it. Mike Oldfield was chosen to be God's channel. There is no other explanation. Pure bliss !!!

Love Mike Oldfield. I have my granddad to thank for getting me into his music. I remember listening to it as a child with my friends. I'm 24 now and I still think this is better than some of the modern stuff we have out now.

I used to play this on my original sony walkman after a two week trip on the oil rigs in the North sea, after a couple of hours flying from the rig, our crew change helicopter would come into sight of the Shetland isles, the first land we'd all seen for two weeks. I'd cue up this track on my walkman and listen to it as we came in for our refuelling stop. To me this music has always meant "coming home".

@KillaClone0 Hello, I agree with you. By the way I'm 59 years old and I love mikes music. It's so soothing and it's lovely to hear it on the headphones. I listen to it via my computer. I'm using a " Dongle " and I can get it loud and clear. Peter. 19.50 hrs 14.08.2011.

@condeduqueolivares probably because Ommadawn was specially dedicated (by Mike, his brother and sister) to his mother who'd recently died - sort of very special one-off...

Oh wow! I like it! 70's music is often really cool! Didn't know this artist just discoverd :D Where were he from? America, Europe..?
I loved this album when I was 15-16 in the mid 70s. I played it over and over. The solo at the end was one of the first pieces I tried to learn and play as an aspiring guitarist. I haven't listened to this masterpiece for some 30 years. It hasn't aged at all! Fantastic music by a true genius!
