@SkwisgaarScampini Yes theory is important. No question. This is an ongoing discussion. Read some of the other comments. I'm not the only affected by the way this guy portrays his knowledge. Look at a clinic by Phil Koch for example. Lots of knowledge, Night and day presentation. Fun. A required lubricant for learning. If this guy right here was MY teacher, I'd be a garbage man today. (and making better money, lol)

Theory is as essential as breathing. Knowledge is power. This is anything but boring. If you don't learn music theory, you will never be a top tier guitarist. Being "self-taught" or relying solely upon your "ear" is nothing to brag about.

@GuitarGare I'm assuming you're saying theory means nothing? Hopefully for your sake that's NOT what you mean..Yeah this guy really makes no sense whatsoever and everything he plays is boring and un inspired, but theory is EXTREMELY important
