    If you look real close you will find a small IBM logo, one of many such scattered through out the film, in the lower righthand corner with the words "tele pad" just below a row of 10 pushbuttons numbered 1 to 0. Its not for data input, it's not on a network. It's a portable TV. Later in the movie we see them using clipboards and pens.

    Lots of SF missed the personal computer. Thats why HAL is just a single computer for the entire ship, not a lot of small computers. There were no small computers.

    The movie was made in the 60s and there is a tablet possibly and most likely with a touchscreen why does it matter who made it.
