Maize farmers have expressed outrage at unconfirmed reports that the government is about to import 67,000 tonnes of maize yet it has stopped buying locally. The farmers are demanding the release of more funds to the national cereals and produce board to allow the Purchase of local grain. Agriculture assistant minister Gideon Ndambuki and permanent secretary Romano Kiome assured farmers that the government has no plans to import maize.
i wish we could get the real story from the maize farmers, on what is really going on surely they are the only ones who know the truth.
