Three Little Birds is a song by Bob Marley & The Wailers from their 1977 album Exodus. It is one of Bob Marley's most popular songs. The single was released in 1980 and reached the Top 20 in England, peaking at number 17.
The three "Little Birds" referenced by Marley were the Wailers' three backing vocalists, the I Threes, consisting of Marcia Griffiths, Judy Mowatt, and Bob Marley's wife Rita. The song Three Little Birds is one of the songs featured in the 2007 movie I Am Legend. Ironically, Will Smith sings the song both in Shark Tale and I Am Legend. However, the song appears in strikingly contrasting contexts. In Shark Tale, Smith sings the song in a light-hearted, feel-good manner, while in I Am Legend, the song has bittersweet undertones, as Smith's character (the last man alive in New York City) sings the song in an attempt to stave off intense loneliness.~
Bob Marley & the Wailers were a reggae band created in 1974 by Bob Marley, after Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer left the precursor band, The Wailers.
Bob Marley & The Wailers consisted of Bob Marley himself as guitarist, song writer and lead singer, Wailers Band as the backing band and the I Threes as backup vocalists.
The band included the brothers Carlton and Aston "Family Man" Barrett on drums and bass respectively, Junior Marvin and Al Anderson on lead guitar, Tyrone Downie and Earl "Wya" Lindo on keyboards, and Alvin "Seeco" Patterson on percussion. The I Threes, consisted of Bob Marley's wife Rita Marley, Judy Mowatt, Marcia Griffiths.
