This surgical film demonstrates a bilateral davinci/robotic aortic lymph node dissection in a patient with endometrial cancer using the da Vinci S system with the HD (high definition) optical system.
The da Vinci S system with HD represents the next step in the evolution of robotic surgery by bringing HD video into the operating room. The HD optical system allows surgeons to perform more precise anatomical dissections with enhanced dexterity.

@popaddict It is smoke/steam from the burning tissue. The surgical attachments on the robot allow for tissue cauterization via electrosurgery.

@leanonme1 I'm pretty sure this isn't done in the neck. Aortic lymph nodes aren't in the neck... those are the cervical lymph nodes. It would be pretty crazy for endometrial cancer to travel to the neck. This is in the abdomen.

What exactly are they doing when that smoke/mist comes out of those metal clippers? it looks like they're burning off the tissue. I'm just curious what they're doing. Anyway looks pretty impressive the work these surgeons do!

amazing, even more impressive with the knowledge of how small this really is. Those claws are about the size of a penny, maybe smaller.
