Pequinita sings Brenda Lee's English version of the Edith Piaf song "Hymne a l'amour". Music by Marguerite Monnot, English lyrics by Geoffrey Palmers

If the sun should tumble from the sky
If the sea should suddenly run dry
If you love me really love me let it happen I won't care
If it seems that everything is lost
I will smile and never count the cost
If you love me really love me let it happen darling I won't care

Shall I catch a shooting star
Shall I bring it where you are
If you want me to I will
You can set me any task
I'll do anything you ask
If you'll only say you love me still

When at last my life on earth is through
I will share eternity with you
If you love me really love me let it happen I won't care
If you love me really love me let it happen I won't care

  • I used to listen to this song, sung by "Kay Starr" back in the fifties. Brenda sings it beautiful, But Kay Starr still has it from the heart...

  • Brenda Lee has always been a great singer, but not for this song. The song was written and originally performed by Edith Piaf. Having said that...the definitive version is by a Norwegian singer, Sissel. Her performance makes others pale in comparison. You can find Sissel on YouTube.

  • I love Patti Labelle's cover of this..

  • Engelbert also does a great cover of this & tells the heartbreaking story behind the song: French singer, Edith Piaf had a love affair with a famous boxer, Marcel Cerdan...a Middleweight Champion. To surprise her, he was on his way to New York to see Edith perform in concert. Sadly, The plane he was flying in crashed & Marcel was killed along with everyone aboard. After a period of time, she was asked by the press if she could express her feelings about her loss ...this song was her answer.

  • nice

  • The song of edith was better imo. this redition overpowers he her voice. But overall, a decent song!
