@Mattbromans I really love this song, and I know what you mean about the hatred here. But, the more I listen to it, the more I realize that it's kind of a love song. As frustrated as the speaker is with his wife and his life, there's this sense of togetherness that runs through the whole song. John Darnielle puts it perfectly at the beginning of this video: it's loving someone so much that you want them to die.
