One fine October day in 2009, we were fortunate to swim with a mixed pod of Spinner Dolphins. A friend, and fine underwater photographer, had an amazing interaction with one particular, large adult dolphin who seemed delighted to swim with him all morning! Although this vid is only 4 minutes of footage from that day, I watched this one dolphin stay at our friends side for over an hour! I hope you will get a sense of the magic and inter-species connection we all shared. Aloha!

  • More and more frequently single dolphins are coming out from the pods recently. It is a phenomenon that is quite extraordinary! There are many times when the dolphins are in the water and never swim near humans. There are other times when dozens of people are in the water and the dophins jump 50 times and play with 30 leaves! Perhaps they are having a quiet day one time and a playful day another! Dolphins are a blessing on the planet!!!!!

  • @destinyamb

They certainly are a blessing for US!!

I agree that they have different "moods".

If you pay attention, its pretty obvious

when they want to play or interact and

when they want to rest and be left alone.

    We try and honor that.

  • Love this Pam. The music and photography are perfect in every aspect.

  • Honoring. How very apt for the scene that follows. Thank you, Pamela, for sharing this awesome video with us. I am honored to be a spectator.

  • Wow! What an experience - and what great video and music!

  • Im not sure ANYone knows the answer to that question, but for sure not me :) Very good question, but I really dont know. I just enjoy them when they are there. Aloha.

  • well why do they go? or why do they stay?

  • LOL!!! I suppose anything is possible... but the dolphin didnt seem to mind my being there too, and photographing!! You are free to come to whatever conclusions you like, but I will say this much - after years of swimming with them, the one thing I know for sure is if they dont feel like being with us, they swim away. Its just that simple. If they stay with us, (or let us stay with them), its because they are ok with us being there.

  • or maybe the dolphin was attractive to him and not to you?

  • really good question. Its hard to know, but Scott swims with them all the time, and he is very respectful... it could be that this dolphin *recognized* Scott and treated him like a friend. Thats how I like to interpret it.
