The great irony is that the some of the media was actually comparing Brad Pitt to James Dean*cue laughter* in East Of Eden, when it was actually Aidan Quinn's character, Alfred, who had the Dean role. Like Alfred, Dean's character, Cal Trask, is the one who trying to win the approval of his father and the heart of his brother's girlfriend, Abra. It's Pitt's character, Tristan, who is more like Aron, the favored son who can do no wrong in their father's eyes.
