Great review of the Kodak Zi8. Yeah the ext mic is a great thing. Only thing I don't like about the Zi8 is that is has that silly little rechargeable battery that you cannot replace.
I now just use the Flip Ultra HD cos it has a nice double AA sized rechargeable battery pack that you can easily swap with normal AA batteries in the field. And as for sound, I just use a little voice recorder with a lapel mic, and then match things up during editing. Does an amazing job!

This is an awesome camera. The only thing I don't like is that you can't face the screen toward yourself while you are recording to see what exactly it's recording. I like to check to make sure I'm in frame, positioned, etc. I think having the ability to see yourself while you record is a big deal, at least for me... Good review!

Nice review, thanks! I have the Zi6 and am happy with it, but have not tried it for sound. I mostly use it for pictures, which come out very nicely. If I do vid, I do find I have to kill the sound. Nice to have another product in mind for when I start doing video for my blog (web cam video is pretty bad :|).
