No they don't, otherwise, how would the phone system know what you pushed? Touch tones are a combo of TWO tones played simulataneously. One tone is the same for 3,6,and 9. The second tone is different.

I replied before, but it doesn't show up.

While it is true that 3, 6, and 9 do indeed have one tone in common, it is also true that each number produces TWO tones at the same time. The secondary tone on 3, 6, and 9 are different. Dialing my friend at 555-3333 won't end up connecting you to my enemy at 555-6666. I listened and the guy did indeed press the number 6, not 3 or 9.

yeah but then he probably would have received a different response than "The number we contacted you on will be removed..."
