The ending theme from Chrono Trigger, made in the amazing Band Brothers DX/Jam With the Band for the DS. This song was composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, and is possibly my favourite out of all the songs I've made in BBDX. CT has lots of amazing music, and everyone who has yet to hear it will finally be able to, as it's coming out on the DS soon. It's appropriate that this song should be on the same system, too.

By popular demand, I've reuploaded my BDX files, which I'm hoping are the most recent ones, which can be added to a game save using bdxtool or Degausser. :

In this song, a lot of different parts all play the main melody at some point, with the focus being on the pan flute and piano. The only parts not shown at all are Strings 2 and 3, and the drums.

Keep in mind that the instrument volume balance was intended for DS speakers, so some things will not sound correct on YouTube. I know the Strings are too quiet at times, but in the BDX file, it's perfect.

In Band Brothers DX (and now the English version, Jam With the Band), you can choose any instrument in a song (up to 8 tracks) and play that specific part, using the D-Pad and buttons on the DS to play each note on a scale (on the highest difficulty, L is used for sharps and R raises the octave). This simulates playing a real instrument, in a way that can be challenging or easy depending on your difficulty choice, giving you an endless selection of parts to play. If you think an instrument in the background of a song sounds like it would be fun to play, you can simply play it, rather than being limited to a set note pattern for each song as in most rhythm games.

In my videos, I've demonstrated this by changing between multiple parts in a song to show different parts of the gameplay. Using the game's built-in MIDI editor, you can compose a song like this and immediately play it in the game. And as I prove every time I make a song, this actually takes no musical talent at all. There are 100 edit mode slots, and 100 slots into which you can download songs from an ever-increasing selection of over 2000 songs from Nintendo's servers.

  • I've got a new download link for my songs in the video info, for all those who have been asking.

  • What, no live performance from you? j/k

Awesome video for an awesome song. You did a really nice job syncing that up with the audio.

  • I'd love to do a performance video, but I don't have a third hand to hold the camera with. I'll see if I can make it work, though...

  • Excellent work. You have me considering strongly to purchase this game, especially after having fun with making records on WarioWare: D.I.Y.. The sound quality demonstrated by this classic Chrono Trigger sequenced song is lovely for being on the DS.
