Spin 'n Spew (Spider) at Waldameer, RARE on-ride footage!

I have been reliably informed this was called 'Spider' - as far as I'm aware it's a very standard mechanical Octopus type spin-'n-spew, but I couldn't find it listed on Waldameer's website. Probably because it's SO extreme.

Anyway, footage shot of myself and a friend riding this monster - my friend being a little worse for wear. Filmed during the Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain's 2009 'Stand Behind the Yellow Line' tour to the USA and Canada. Sound drops out a few times as the Canon Ixus 100 isn't that fantastic.

Many thanks to all at Waldameer park in Erie, Pennsylvania. It really was a fantastic little park with some great rides, and a great family feel.

Can be very intense to the dismay of some riders.

Thrilling to others if you get it going right. Leaning in (to the center) helps with the inital spin. This ride replaced the flying scooters in 1978. A massive tree stood where the sledge hammer game is now and the scooters came about 3 feet from it!

In Minnesota we have that ride at Valleyfair. It is called the octopuss monster I think. Any way it spins like crazy.
