Hindu fundamentalists are using tough political tactics and violence to curb the growing number of Christian conversions.

The Dalits are the poorest and most marginalised group in Indian society. Classed as 'untouchables' by the Hindu system, they live on the outskirts of society. But the arrival of Christian missionaries gave them new hope. By converting to Christianity, they hoped to escape a lifetime of persecution. "The Hindus treat us like animals," says one converted Christian. "Life is better as a Christian." But the leading Hindu party in Gujarat sees the conversion movement as little more than 'religious terrorism'. Missionaries now face huge restrictions and have to obtain permission from a magistrate to work. But with so few options available to Dalits, it seems unlikely that government legislation will slash the conversion rate.

  • Is this the same Christianity that converted the native Americans and wiped their culture and religion? Is this the saviour? We Hindus believe in plurality. It is certain missionaries who want to prop up their "God" as the only true God? It is this "our God" vs "your God" that is the root of all conflict.

  • This is a totally bias documentary. My maid, who came from Godavari, India was forced into getting baptized into Christianity. Those missionaries secretly told all women to be brought to a river and when they finished their ceremony, the women were told to throw all their idols if they wanted RS200.

  • i thought journeyman picture is an independent entity, not funded by Vatican..but this doc is made to show that: hindus are opressing violently christians. this is but one side of the coin. why don't jp shows that in nagaland christians conspire to separate nagaland from india? many places in india where christians have paid murderers.

this documentary is HIGHLY PARTIAL. therefore misleading people.

  • @Ninja5aif mee too am muslim but i belong to high class ashraf. i dont like to pray in mosques where too many ajlafs are present. they are too dirty and smelly and the attar they smear makes matters much worse.
