Actually it's a shame that Japanese cartoon art seems to have hijacked by S&M. Nothing wrong with the latter if that's what you want but it could do so much more with it's astoundingly beautiful images. I'm old and in the past 50 years have sat cynical, hard nosed and dry eyed through everything from Old Yeller to Love Story. But I felt like someone had rammed a two by four through my heart when I watched Grave of the Fireflies. Oh well, I guess it's what sells.
