  • Morley Safer is asking "challenging" questions not because he's a "dick", but because he's making HER interesting. Remember, 60 Minutes isn't for operaphiles. It's for people who probably hate opera but can be prodded to take an interest if the interview grabs them. That's what Safer does. He loves opera himself so he's marketing Jessye to the rubes.

  • @normanowns0613 total dick. Who would ask a question like that?!

  • Yeah, she handled that asshole interviewer brilliantly.

  • I don't think the interviewer is being racist, I just think he's being a condescending douche bag. she's just sitting there like "whatever, he's an idiot, I'll just be polite and he can make a fool of himself all he wants"

  • @normanowns0613 he's being a total d-bag. She's just delightful.

  • I love Jessye Norman

  • @jason101other

Just stop talking and start listening to this beautiful, almost angelic voice. I think your opinion will change greatley.

  • @jason101other your comment is devestatingly ignorant. I would attempt to educate you as to race dynamics of the eras in which these singers came to prominence but there really is no need to even engage someone as stupid as yourself. Seriously....whatever your intention was....you sound like a white supremacist.

  • To the people whining about black singers having to "overcome" so much: STFU! If it weren't for white people, there would be no classical music to sing-- Verdi, Tchaikovsky, Schubert, Mendellsohn, Brahms, Wagner, on and on were all white. The orchestra houses are all white. The fact they were black singers in many ways helped them, because people like variety.

  • "Grander than life? Why.. yes, I suppose that applies to me."
