Kosovo: life after independence

Kosovo calls itself a newborn state, but critics of its independence have plenty of doubts. They point to its shattered economy and disorganised education system; to its reliance on drugs, weapons and human trafficking as short-cuts to wealth. They say its ethnic minorities have no human rights; that it isn't recognised globally. They say the people of Kosovo can't live side-by-side with their neighbours. These, they say, are the attributes of a newborn state called Kosovo.

@arian50 I absolutely understand history. The US Government wanted to run a pipeline thru Kosovo, they did not want that pipeline to full under any Russian control or influence and it would have , had it remained under the Serbian Jurisdiction. To make it so the Russian had no control, the US wanted a Military Base there to protect it also,,and there now is one. The US gave money and weapons to the KLA promising that they could run the drugs and other criminal activities, n thats how it is FU

As an american, I saw on television when it all started, we were told the alanians wanted independence because the serbs were committing ethnic cleansing, and the media in USA still tells this lie... With Internet, many now know it was all about an oil pipeling that US wanted to run thru Kosovo, but we didn;'t want to give control of that to Russian influence as they are allied with the Serbs. So America helped the albanians, It was only about the oil,, It is a shame,, now look at Kosovo,,
