Moonwalk
The moonwalk is a physically complicated dance technique that gained widespread popularity after being performed by Michael Jackson on the 1983 television special Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever, and has since become his signature move. The purpose of the moonwalk is to give the illusion that the dancer is stepping forward while actually moving backward.
Most of these moonwalks are performed on the song Billie Jean by Michael Jackson.
Anti-gravity lean
The props needed for this technique were patented in the United States by Jackson in 1993, and consists of pegs that rise from the stage at the appropriate moment, and special shoes with ankle supports and cut-outs in the heels which can slide over the pegs and be thereby attached to the stage temporarily. These allow the performers to lean beyond their own centers of gravity.
Most of these anti-gravity leans are performed on the song Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson.
Michael Jackson's skin
Jackson's skin was a medium-brown color for the entire duration of his youth, but starting in the early 1980s, his skin gradually grew paler. This change gained widespread media coverage, including rumors that Jackson was bleaching his skin. In the mid-1980s, Jackson was diagnosed with vitiligo (chronic skin disorder that causes loss of pigment, resulting in irregular pale patches of skin) and lupus (chronic autoimmune connective tissue disease); both illnesses make him sensitive to sunlight. The treatments he uses for his condition further lighten his skin tone, and, with the application of pancake makeup to even out blotches, he can appear very pale.
The structure of his face has changed as well. Several surgeons have speculated that Jackson had undergone multiple nasal surgeries, a forehead lift, thinned lips and a cheekbone surgery, however, Jackson denies getting plastic surgery on his face, claiming that the media is ignorant of what they don't understand. Despite this, he mentions he suffered horrible bouts of acne as a teenager, and his father would repeatedly insult him by making fun of his nose...
