A number of monasteries dot the land of Tibet. These monasteries belong to different schools of Tibetan Buddhism and hence offer quiet a different experience when you visit them. Grand thangkas, exquisite murals and frescoes, impressive statues and many more Buddhist relics, that are commonly found in these monasteries, instill a feeling of spirituality. They also generate a feeling of appreciation for the artists who created them.

  • Tibet's ethnic characteristics and the fine aspects of its traditional culture have won full respect and protection under the regional ethnic autonomy system.

  • Go and visit Tibet. Seeing is believing!

In the past 50 years Tibet, an ancient and mysterious land, has undergone tremendous changes far beyond comparison with those in any other era. Tibet has bidden farewell to the poor, backward, isolated and stagnant feudal serf society, and is forging ahead toward a modern people's democratic society featuring constant progress, civilization and opening-up, and its modernization drive has won world-renowned achievements.

  • Potala palace is among the toughest place to move about-- steep stairs up and then 90 degrees stairs down. Once is enough for me. but the prayer hall is nicely decorated.

  • Nice pictures, but part of Chinese government propaganda - pretend Tibet is a wonderful Shangila to attract tourist dollars - forget China has crushed Tibet, Tibetan people and Tibetan culture. Behind this Tibetan Buddhism is strictly controlled by the Chinese Gov't.
