At 37, Diane Rehm began her radio career as a volunteer with just a high school education. Thirty-five years later, she has won the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award as host of the leading NPR public affairs program, The Diane Rehm Show. Watch this exclusive behind the scenes.

  • I have been waiting and waiting and waiting to see some behind-the-scenes documentary about how this show is put together. Amazing.

  • @gvt2u Hey, thank you for your comment! I will pass it on to Diane:) I actually produced this for a graduate school class - and I was soooo nervous when I first met Diane. It was a great time.

  • I used to be a part of the team who transcribes The Diane Rehm show, and it just felt like my day is not complete when I wasn't able to do my part and somebody had to do it instead. When I lost my job, I knew that it's one of the things I'm going to miss, but I thought that's life so I had to move on. That's until I heard and watched this video after a month and this really made me feel like crying. I really miss my 10:39:30 - 10:48:40 Diane Rehm segment.

  • I really like the way you did the wrap up at the end of the video, with the voice over guy doing the staff outros, and you showed each person's face as they were announced. Helps put faces with names when listening to this program during my morning commute.

  • SHE IS INCREDIBLE. I LOVE HER VOICE AND I LIKE HER VERY MUCH BECAUSE SHE KEPT ME COMPANY WHILE I WAS LIVING IN THE USA BY MYSELF. I LEARNED A LOT BECAUSE OF HER POLITICAL INTERVIEWS AND NOW THAT I´M LIVING IN PERU I TRY TO LISTEN TO HER PROGRAM AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. GOOD LUCK DIANE!!!

  • @darioinfini Why is she brilliant? She doesn't ask especially witty questions, she doesn't have a background that shows any special challenges in her academic or career life... what makes her so brilliant... I think that word gets thrown around far too much and it loses its true meaning. Brilliant means awe inspiring ingenuity. The fact that you would make such a low wit remark about what my comment says about me it just a very uncreative way to say that you're particularly shallow.

  • thank you so much for posting this. i love her show, and this video was really informative. :)

  • @slipdipidis She is brilliant. Her show is perhaps the best show on radio. And her voice makes her sound 50 yrs older than she is. But I can live with it because there is not a single show she has ever done that wasnt interesting. That you think otherwise says A LOT about you.

  • Great job!

  • God Bless you for making this! I hope you a'ced the class. So wonderful to have a behind the scenes record of how this show is made. History in the making!

  • I was fortunate enough to have been born and raised in the DC area and have been listening to Diane on WAMU for 20 years. She is an invaluable American resource and a true class act.

And by the way, I must compliment you on your production; very nicely done!
