@rikkus67 I agree. I know the situation is not be dismissed, but how can they leave out an important fact like that. I don't care if it was 20 years ago and expired. He had flown Cesnas before. The basic physics are the same.
This video forgot to mention that the "pilot" had experience flying airplanes before already; in smaller airplanes. It's not like he did not know anything about flying. Google for an article on AOPA.org
Mr. White was clearly a pilot. He was calculating his approach without the tower doing it for him. When you go from flying single engine aircrafts to a King Air it must have been like learning to ride a bike just to be put on a motorcycle. He might not call himself a hero, but he not only saved his family but nailed a perfect landing!
They were all yelling, red, blinking, flashing and...just ignore 'em...I didn't know what they were anyway. Way to go Mr. White...cool hand Luke from Monroe!
@rikkus67 Doug White is my best friend Maggie's father. He did have a pilot license that was 20 years old and expired. So he hadn't flown a plane in 20 years, especially not a newer plane and not for anything even remotely like a King Air. He only flew Cessnas. Nothing was sensationalized for ratings. It really was a bad situation. Not to mention that his wife's and two daughters lives were in his hands. He did, however, get his pilots license renewed after the incident.
So, a guy named Hani Hanjour who fails a basic Cessna course pulls of the most amazing turn in aviation history of a 757 and crashes a Boeing in to the pentagon at 70 ft? See what other 757 pilots have to say about this bullshit. We are asleep at the wheel.
@rikkus67 You are so nuts. You know not what you talk about my friend. Once you get your silly Cessna license and then land a Beechcraft King Air 200 with no experience then you can pop-off on you-tube you idiot.
