Jimmy Needham "Be The Record" Album Fund video

It's good to see that you found your way to my Kickstarter page. I know what you're thinking: "Jimmy, I'm scared. What is a 'Kickstarter page' anyway? Is it gonna hurt me? I need your help!" Don't fret. I'm here for you. Let me tell you a little bit about what's shaking here so you're not in the dark. First things first, an update:

2011 has begun, and it has been nothing short of a rollercoaster of awesome. For starters, in January my wife, Kelly, gave birth to our first child, a baby girl named Lively! It has been the joy of my life to meet this little one. She looks like her daddy (We're still praying God would heal her from that) ; ).

Speaking of new things, 2011 means it's time for a new album! It's been 6 years and 3 LP's since I started this journey, and I'd say it's about time for another. We're shooting for a Fall '11 release. I'm in the thick of things right now as I am finishing up the writing process, talking to producers, and getting my team together to make this puppy happen. Hopefully you've come to appreciate the time and energy we've put into these albums in the past. I take much care in making the best artistic contribution to my generation as possible, while striving to exalt the person of Jesus in the art I create. Let me just say thanks to you all for your support of my music in previous years, and let me share a way you can help in this new season.

As we get all our ducks in a row to start the recording process, we began talks on how to fund the project. This is where you come in: I'm starting a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for my new album. It's pretty simple really. Step 1: I've set a financial goal of $20,000 to help supplement what I've already set aside for the recording. Step 2: I've set a deadline: May 5th (Cinco de Mayo). This is the last day to make a donation. Step 3: You have from right now until the deadline to give. Select a giving level on the side of the screen. Each level has a "perk". It's our way of saying thanks for your gift by giving you one as well. Pick it and get donating! Step 4: My management company will help you redeem your "giving perk" after we meet our financial goal. It's that simple.

Here's the kicker. If I'm not able to meet my goal of $20,000 by May 5th, I don't get to keep any of the donations. It all gets returned and it's like the campaign never happened (Single tear). That's why I really need your help. It's a big goal but I'm trusting that God will provide. So spread the word and give today so we can make this next record happen!

@jadkins00- I don't feel like Jimmy asking for financial support to kick start his next CD is not in any way self-promoting himself . Many godly ministries rely on outside financial support to pay for cost associated with continuing the ministry. I firmly believe that Jimmy's intention for this continue to stay true to his love for God and promoting Him (Jesus) by sharing the Gospel. 1 Timothy 5:18 says, "For the Scripture says,... And in another place, “Those who work deserve their pay!”

@reveille4 Sadly, I completely agree. I thought it was a joke because in the past Jimmy has been so honorable with NOT self-promoting himself as the world does. I kept looking for the punch line, but it's real. I try not to be critical but this type of gimmicky junk seems so unGodly. I'm not a prude! But, come on...

Jimmy, this is AWESOME! If I wasn't deployed to the desert some 4000 miles away, I'd go halfsies with my bro for the songwriter package:) I still remember our late night Starbucks visit with you and Kelly in Destin ('07)!

Bro, you are truly gifted, and I'm still planning to give to support the music God's laid on your heart to write. I pray that you get to make this album, and some people are truly blessed with your gifts through the process!
