  • just curious (sorry if this is a "dumb" question): was he an atheist?

  • @treehugrurthluvrsupr Not necessarily...he was an ordained Episcopal minister...but he didn't believe in a "sky Daddy" deity that answers prayers & nominates which of his creations deserves an eternity in hell. Pierre Grimes, an old friend of Watts, did a video series that explained Watts' beliefs.

  • 5* and faved! I love putting this and the Manly Hall on for my boy and I to listen to in the morning while were getting the chores done. I can see why Watts is one of your favorites. You have some amazing interviews and dialogues, PLEASE keep posting them buddy, I am in the LAND of on order and delivery, so this is the best way to get the goods! Thanks for the post! rp

  • I snatched those (both) off Google - the Alan Watts piece can be found on google under "The Middle Way" (appx 50 min), just make sure & go to google VIDEO. The Manly P Hall piece is also available on google video - it's called "Love of Truth" (appx 75 min)...there are several videos by Manly Hall - my favorite is called "Success is the Accomplishment of the Necessary". I can listen to both those dudes 24/7...

One is a mystic, the other is steeped in eastern thought - but they are similar.

  • @TheTempleofNature Thank you.

  • @treehugrurthluvrsupr As far as I understand, he was pantheist.

  • @Jcolinsol well maybe you are just a negative person?

  • @verifymyageful

Your positive feelings, in the face of my abject misery, fill me with an illimitable woe. Despite your contrariness, you have only added further proofs of my... hypothesis. There was aplace that usedto do

  • @Jcolinsol not true at all :D me putting a smiley face was a result of a happy thought.. positive thought.. simple as that.

  • Seems to me, there only negative, no positive.

  • @TruthJockey oh, very interesting! thanks for the information!

  • @treehugrurthluvrsupr nevermind. i was thinking of the four noble truths which are different

  • what's the fourth one? he didn't explain that one.
